The Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club, like Kai Sai Chau, has some pretty amazing views but is quite short, even from the back tees. Good players (single digit handicappers) will find themselves hitting irons off most tees if you’re playing to shoot a good number. Most of the holes you can hit driver, but the risk is just too severe to warrant hitting driver if you’re looking to shoot a good score or have a few dollars on the line. There’s some great holes out there despite Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club being short, even the first, unusually a Par 3, is a good one.
The 18th, is a great short risk-reward Par 4, down the hill and around a cliff, you can choose to cut off as much as the severe dogleg over a huge ravine as you want. We once pulled it way left of where were aiming and left ourselves with just a wedge in hand to this Par 5. There’s many other good, good golf holes at Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club and it’s definitely worth playing. You can play Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club as a visitor on weekdays from 9:30a.m until 11:30a.m except public holidays and wednesdays, for HKD$2,200, cheaper if you’re a HKID holder. Not cheap, but if you have a good day, it’s definitelty a good day out and worth the trip.
