The course overlooks the three hills of Echigo, is flat and has many long holes. The fairways are undulating and the biggest challenge is overcoming the distances, especially the valleys on the 7th and 8th holes, which are key to scoring. The views around the perimeter of the flat course are much more spectacular, although there are a number of downhill holes due to the undulating terrain. The famous 15th is a steep downhill hole with water guarding the front and back greens, so good distance is important, while the 18th is extremely challenging, with a two-tiered fairway and a tiered green.
