St. Andrews New Course

The New Course is adjacent to the Old Course and is often considered a local favourite as it is more compact and defined than the Old Course. It shares some similarities with the shared fairways of the Old Course, with double greens on the 3rd and 15th holes, as well as the traditional front and back layout. In many ways it's more 'normal' than the Old Course - it's certainly less quirky, and perhaps prettier, with large, dense bougainvillea providing a glow of seasonal colour. The fairways are undulating, but they don't have the same slopes and curves as the old ones. There are some great holes on the new course, especially on the dunes around the main turn. The 10th hole is a tough 464-yard par 4. The new course is an understated hidden gem! It truly is a classic test of true links golf.
