Longniddry Golf Club was established in 1921 and is located on the south shore of the Firth of Forth, arguably the best golf coastline in Scotland, 18 miles east of Edinburgh, known as the Scottish Golf Coast. Longniddry is the closest seaside golf course to Edinburgh, consisting of woodland and golf courses, with sea views from many holes.
The course adopts a traditional layout, with the first tee just a few steps away from the locker room, the 18th hole green located next to the clubhouse, and a wide view to the west terrace area, with unobstructed views of Fife, Edinburgh and Arthur's Seat. This is a great place to watch the sunset after playing a round of golf. Uniquely, the 13th hole green is only 80 yards from the clubhouse, perfect for those who have limited time or feel that 18 holes are too much. There is a practice green and practice net on the east side of the clubhouse for Baigao golfers to relax their muscles and find the feeling of playing before heading to the first tee.
Designed by Harry S Colt, Longniddrie Golf Club has a par of 68 and a course record of 62, set by amateur Mike Thomson of Peebles. Longniddrie Golf Club was formerly an Open Qualifying Course and is often invited to host amateur tournaments such as the LGA South East Championship in September 2012 and the Scottish Ladies (Close) Amateur Championship in May 2013. Longniddrie Golf Club has hosted the US Kids European Championships for many years and will be the venue for the Scottish Ladies Open in 2023.
