The course features tree-lined fairways, undulating terrain, smooth drainage and several large creeks, most notably on holes 3, 4 and 11. The tees and fairways are seeded with purple daffodil, the putting surfaces are carpeted with bentgrass and fine fescue is used to edge the bunkers and dot the more open areas.
There are no obvious blind shots, but there is a ‘hide and seek’ green on the par three 12th hole, where the right half of the putting surface is hidden in a somewhat coloured pot, although the golfer can easily see the flag. Both the tee shot and approach shot on the par 5 need to be positioned to get the best angle into the green. Highlights include the short par-4 2nd and the long par-4 9th, where an extra tee has been installed to make the hole a drivable par-4 on certain tournament days. On the back nine, the 11th is a difficult, slightly uphill par four, usually played into the wind, with a cliff to the right of the hole.
Interestingly, Tokyo Classic Golf Club was the first country club in Japan to have equestrian facilities, including a riding club and polo field.
