Course Introduction
Set majestically on a narrow tongue of shallow dune land on a picturesque stretch of coastline, 10 miles north of Dublin City and just 15 minutes from Dublin Airport, Portmarnock Golf Club is one of the most revered venues in the world of golf.
No other Irish course in its long history has hosted so many distinguished players and so many major tournaments. It was here that Arnold Palmer and Sam Snead managed to follow a meandering route through classic fairways to win the 1960 Canada Cup. It was also here that another generation of Americans, including Phil Mickelson and David Duval, secured a memorable Walker Cup victory in 1991.
The Club is one of Ireland's leading golf courses and its layout has stood the test of time. Exposed to the natural environment, Portmarnock provides a true test for golfers in the fairest way possible. From start to finish, the challenges facing each golfer are evident, always offering golfers the option of attacking the holes.
