Course Introduction
Porter Stewart Golf is set amidst majestic massive sand dunes with panoramic views across the Atlantic entrance to Loch Foyle to the Inishowen Peninsula in the distance.
The course is challenging and very enjoyable, boasting one of the best nine holes on the golf course. The first hole is absolutely stunning, one of the most daunting holes on the golf course, a 425 yard par 4 downhill hole that curves right to the sea. Portstewart Golf Club has a number of excellent holes; particularly memorable are the two new par 3s, the third and sixth. The third hole is a challenging shot at 207 yards, whilst the sixth hole is just 140 yards long with a plateau green, again a difficult shot that will be remembered for a long time.
Porter Stewart was honoured to host the Irish Open for the first time in 2017 when Spain's John Rahm led the field by six strokes with a four-round total of 264, which was 24 under par.
