Course Introduction
St Andrews Old Course
Known as the “Home of Golf”, St Andrews Old Course is a favorite destination for golfers from all over the world. The course has a total of 14 double greens, the flags on the greens are usually white in the first half of the course and red in the second half of the course (with the exception of the 18th hole). For double greens shared by two holes, the numbers of the two holes sharing the green must be added together to form 18. The 2nd hole shares a double green with the 16th hole, the 3rd hole with the 15th hole, and so on up to the 8th hole with the 10th hole, and every two fairways share a double green. Only the 1st, 9th, 17th and 18th holes have separate greens. There are 112 bunkers at St. Andrews, many of which are memorable not only because of their size and depth, but also because of their names:The Kitchen, The Lodge, The Seven Sisters and Hell, and The Rector's Nose and Glasses. Road HoleRoad Hole refers to the 17th hole on the Old Course, named for the green adjacent to an asphalt path. The fairway design is extremely controversial and has been called “the world's toughest par 4” by many famous golfers.
(The Old Course Hotel and the Road Hole Bunker are both located on this hole.
St. Andrews Castle Course
The Castle Course is the work of renowned Scottish designer David McLayKidd. It has been described by some as the “black sheep” of the Seven Sisters of St. Andrews. This is because the other six courses are largely natural, with very little earthmoving. The Castle Course, on the other hand, has had major surgery, and like Wuthering Gap and Kingsbarns, has had a lot of sand brought in to create man-made mounds, completely altering its inherently flat landscape.
Torrance Course
The Torrance Course is a peaceful coastal course that offers a unique challenge on varied terrain, while offering tranquil views of the home of golf. The Torrance Course is one of two courses at the Fairmont Resort on the outskirts of St. Andrews. Originally designed by Sam Torrance, the course was recently redesigned with 8 new holes and now features a classic Scottish open bunker design throughout. Once a qualifying course for the Open Championship, this exciting championship course is a great test of golf and offers stunning views over St. Andrews Bay and Carnoustie. The Torrens course has also hosted the Scottish Senior Open.
Royal Burgess Golf Club
Royal Burgess is a real treat for golfers of all abilities. The course is set in beautiful parkland and it's hard to imagine being so close to Edinburgh city center. The fairways are lined with lush greenery, including some fine specimen trees, and the course is cleverly laid out to be both challenging and rewarding. Accurate driving and deft putting are essential requirements to score well on our outstanding greens. Arguably the most scenic hole is the 11th, a 348-yard downhill par 4 that spans an open mounded area crossed by a beautiful stone bridge.
gullane no 1 golf club
Carved from the turf of an old links course, the smooth greens, bunkered and grassy, Gullane No 1 is a unique challenge for all golfers. With additional views over Edinburgh, the Firth of Forth, Fife and beyond, it is one of the most cherished golfing experiences in the world. Each hole on the course is distinctive, both memorable and enjoyable, and is undoubtedly one of the finest and most scenic links courses in Scotland.
Dalmahoy East Course
The East Course has hosted events such as the Solheim Cup, the Scottish PGA Championship and the Scottish Seniors Open.
Nicknamed 'The Beast', this course is a real challenge for even the best golfers, who need a combination of raw power and precision short game to score well. The fairways are wide and forgiving (except for a few bunkers that Mr. Breed has carefully laid out), so you can open up your shoulders and swing to your heart's content from most tees. The greens are large and accessible, which means that if you can keep the ball in the fairway off the tee, you'll have a great target on your back.
Customer FAQ Inquiries:
1.Is it guaranteed that I can play the Old Course?
According to the Old Course's course policy, a lottery system is used for fair and open ball placement, and we will use various methods and channels to do our best to arrange to increase the probability of winning. If you don't win the lottery, we will arrange to play the new course, which is very well designed and maintained, and the experience is very good. Additionally a photo stop can be arranged for a shot at the Swincken Bridge.
Note: According to the special policy of the course, staying at St. Andrews Hotel for three nights and three balls, you can arrange to play the old course without lottery. Please contact Baco customer service if you need to do so.
