While Thailand has dominated the golf holiday tourism market for the past decade or so, Vietnam is now experiencing a golf course construction boom with much to like.

Vietnam won the title of "Best Golf Destination in Asia" for the eighth consecutive year in the 2024 World Golf Awards. This achievement has firmly established Vietnam in the Asian golf map, with unique landscapes created by natural advantages, high quality, fair prices and first-class caddy services.

A recent survey estimated that the cost of living in Vietnam is about 10% cheaper than in Thailand. It's amazing how expensive things are in Vietnam. A meal for two in a mid-range restaurant costs less than $20, and a beer is about $1.50. Taxis are also very cheap, costing about 0.5 cents for the first kilometer. Prices vary slightly in different regions, for example, a cup of coffee in Halong Bay costs only 6 yuan, while in Hanoi it costs 10-13 yuan.

Vietnam is a vast country, about 1,000 kilometers long from north to south, with different climates and terrains. Each city has a different best season for golfing. Ho Chi Minh is the largest city in Vietnam and has a lot of attractions to visit. There are so many golf courses in Hanoi that it is difficult to choose.

Lesser-known destinations, such as Dalat, a former French mountain retreat, are perfect for summer retreats, while in Danang, you can play next to giant sand dunes, which give the area’s courses a links feel.

In Nha Trang, you can play golf on the beautiful white sand beach. If you really want to try something different, Phu Quoc Island on the south coast has one of the best golf courses in Vietnam. Phu Quoc Island is not only visa-free, but also has a comprehensive amusement park and zoo, which is very suitable for parent-child travel.

If you like history and culture, you should definitely visit the ancient Chinese fishing port of Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site not far from Danang. You should also visit the spectacular limestone islands rising from Ha Long Bay. Other classic excursions include a cruise in the Mekong Delta or a visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels.
